Interested in auditioning for an Improv troupe?
Auditions take place Saturday, February 11, and Sunday, February 12. Times TBA.
What happens in an ExAb Improv Troupe?
- Through the audition process, ExAb’s Faculty establish small groups of youth improvisers to perform specific formats or genres of show.
- Casting is based on experience, ability, availability, and focus/maturity level. We seek to create troupes that work well together and have the ability to build specific shows together.
- Troupes rehearse with a coach weekly (schedules can vary) to create a specific format for performance.
- Troupe members pay a coaching fee that is the equivalent of tuition.
- Rehearsal times are based on troupe member availability.
- Troupes differ from classes in that the focus is on creating a specific type of show rather than building general skills.
- Some troupes continue for years, exploring a variety of formats and working with different coaches/directors. Others rehearse and perform a specific show and move on.
- Troupes perform at ExAb All Ages Shows, ExAb Fest, and may have additional shows at other theatres or festivals when possible.
- For the audition: Dress in clothing that’s easy to move around in, bring a full water bottle, and be able to answer questions about your schedule/availability. There is no need to prepare a monologue.
- The audition will begin with information about how troupes operate followed by a group warm up. We will ask small groups to run directed scenes and games. It’s low-pressure and fun, we promise!
Can’t make auditions the weekend of February 11 & 12? Let us know and we’ll try to figure something out.
