So… What happens at an Improv Birthday Party?
One of a kind celebrations for kids who love to laugh, that’s what!
Maximum of 20 participants and an additional 30 audience members.
Costs range from $475 to $675 depending on number of guests, date of event, etc.
Choose the birthday package that works best for your group:
Option 1:
The Big Show
Start the party with a short, hands-on Introduction to Improv followed by an interactive Improv show. Performed by our adult cast, audience members improvise alongside them as characters, narrators, sound effects, objects, etc.
After the show, guests have access to our lobby & patio for hosting any additional portions of the party. Families are welcome to bring a cake, snacks, etc.. The theater will be open and our tech is usually happy to serve as DJ for spontaneous dance parties.
Introduction
Low pressure/high energy intro that gets participants on the same page, alleviates worries about what to expect during the show and helps guests participate at whatever level feels right.
Performance
A 45 to 50 minute original, interactive Improv show performed by our adult cast and audience volunteers.
Celebration
Party Hosts often bring cake, snacks and drinks for a post show celebration. The theater is open and music available should anyone need a dance party.
Option 2:
The Birthday: an Original Comedy Show Starring You.

Ready to put on your own show with some help from the Improvisers at Excused Absence Comedy?
Under the direction of ExAb Faculty and Performers, guests spend the first hour of the event learning and rehearsing a series of Improv games and formats.
Then we open the house to parents, family and friends for a short performance by the birthday guests on the ColdTowne stage.
After the show, guests have access to our lobby & patio for hosting any additional portions of the party. Families are welcome to bring a cake, snacks, etc.. The theater will be open and our tech is usually happy to serve as DJ for spontaneous dance parties.

FAQ’s
- Who: Improv is for all ages, but we are proud of our ability to know our audience and tailor each event to the age group at hand.
- When: Schedules are based on availability. Parties run 2 hours and the space is available 30 minutes prior for set up and 30 minutes after for clean up.
- What: Improv can be intimidating for some, particularly for those just walking into it. Like all of our classes, shows and events, our Birthday Parties strive to create a supportive, safe environment where participants can collaborate and create without worrying about getting it right or wrong. There’s no heckling in Improv and we avoid getting laughs at someone else’s expense. We love this art form and we want everyone who joins us to feel good about what they do. (That said, “School Rules” apply for all youth events. So, you know, just be cool.)
