Excused Absence is the youth Improv Comedy program at ColdTowne Theater in Austin, Texas.

We offer comedy classes, camps, shows, workshops, and private events to kids, teens, families, and educators. Additionally, we host the annual Excused Absence Youth Comedy Festival, the only comedy festival in Texas with a focus entirely on performance and comedy education by and for youth.

Formerly known as Move Your Tale, we have changed our name to reflect the wider range of performers, students and audiences we now serve. Move Your Tale remains our branch for children ages 3 to 8. We hope to add programming for the very young, ages 18 months to 3 years, in 2018.

A great way to learn more about us is to drop in on Excused Absence Nights, 5 pm Sundays at ColdTowne Theater. This all ages show features youth and adult performers and an improv jam.
