F.A.Q’s
Are the Saturday morning shows performed by trained, adult improvisers doing improv for kids? Or kids & families doing improv? Or somewhere in-between?
The Saturday morning shows are performed by trained adult improvisers. Audience members participate by giving suggestions, providing sound effects/call & response, and by coming onstage as volunteers throughout. Volunteers are generally set up by the adult cast as either characters or story elements that lend detail and humor to the existing scene. Since every audience is different and each show is unique, there are definitely times when audience member participation varies.
Can we host a Birthday party at the show?
Definitely. You can buy a tickets in advance online and attend as a group. If you contact us in advance, we’re happy to reserve a section for your party when possible. We also offer private Birthday Party events that include a short Improv class, a full length interactive show and the option of a dance party onstage after cake. Contact us at exabimprov@gmail.com for details.
Does ColdTowne sell concession?
Yes! We have a snack counter where one can purchase a variety of snacks and drinks. It’s not a full breakfast, but it’s fun.

Before we were Story Starts…
From November 2011 until March 2020, Saturday mornings at ColdTowne Theater were already dedicated to performing live comedy shows crafted for kids and their adults. Many of those shows featured Austin’s best known canine improviser, the legendary Steve Scott.

What’s the Story Steve
Steve, a 15 pound poodle, was a dog who’s uncanny ability to improvise live comedy combined with his easy going, friendly demeanor made him a showbiz natural. The show was originally framed as a one-time, improvised version of the PBS kids’ show What’s the Story WishBone, but quickly evolved into a reliably entertaining and accessible weekly children’s show. Over the years, WTSS created over 20 individual formats shaped around their canine star and performed for thousands of kids and families. During the pandemic, Steve continued to perform via Zoom until he passed away in July of 2021. He was a very good boy who made lots of people very happy.
