Sundays, 5 pm at ColdTowne Theater. Austin’s only regularly scheduled, all-ages comedy show.

Ex Ab Nights feature both youth and adult comedy acts. Mostly Improv, sometimes stand-up or sketch.

  • ExAb Nights take place at ColdTowne Theater and are open to the public.
  • Shows feature two to three acts, including a youth act and a well known adult troupe or performer.
  • ExAb Nights provide kids, teens and adults with opportunities to see quality, PG performance in a comedy club setting.
  • These shows are a chance for youth and adult comics to share work with new audiences.
  • Every show ends with an Improv jam, mixing up the performers and giving audience members the chance to join in on the show.

The All-Ages Improv Jam

Following every performance, audience members are invited to join performers on stage for an Improv Jam. Low pressure and and fun, jams are a great way to try Improv without committing to a class.

You can’t learn Improv if you don’t see Improv.

We are Austin’s only regularly scheduled comedy show designed to give young performers a chance to see both peers and experienced adults perform.

Excused Absence Nights began in 2012 as a weekly show that gave kids and teens opportunities to see comedy performed by accomplished adult acts that were otherwise unavailable to them. We soon realized that these shows are also an opportunity for kids and teens to perform for wider audiences and began adding youth troupes to the lineup. These days, most shows open with a new troupe or class of kids or teens, followed by an experienced youth act. We strive to include one of Austin’s best adult improv troupes as the third act each week, maintaining our commitment to providing youth with access to high quality, live comedy performance.
